Treatment

Homeopathy treats the individual rather than the named disease so it can potentially help people with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.  Illnesses commonly seen include skin conditions, menstrual and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue, migraines, respiratory conditions, recurrent infections (such as colds, otitis media, tonsillitis, cystitis), digestive disorders, and stress related symptoms such as anxiety and insomnia. As homeopathy is non-addictive, non-toxic, and without side-effects, it can be helpful in pregnancy and labour and can be used to treat a variety of children’s complaints such as colic, teething, bed-wetting, behavioral issues, and childhood diseases.

A first consultation will usually take one hour and 30 minutes.  You will be asked for detailed information about your current health, medical history, and lifestyle. Some of the questions will seem very different from what you are used to, but the important thing to remember with homeopathy is that it treats in a holistic manner, and the homeopath is most interested in how you experience your symptoms and what impact they have on your life. This allows them to perceive your unique individuality and prescribe an appropriate homeopathic medicine (commonly known as homeopathic remedy). You may be prescribed a remedy immediately after the interview or your case may have to be studied, in which case a remedy would be supplied at a later date.

A follow-up consultation is usually scheduled 2 weeks after you take the homeopathic remedy and will involve you discussing the changes that have occurred so the homeopath can understand how you have responded to the prescription and decide what the next step of your treatment will be.  It could be to prescribe the same remedy again, to wait, or to change prescriptions.

It is important to consider that the treatment of chronic conditions is a process that takes time, especially when other medications are involved. The duration of treatment depends on the depth and complexity of your complaint.  Generally, a commitment of at least 3 appointments is required for measurable results to be observed.
